Ammy has been a foodie her whole life. She loves traveling and tasting the cuisine of each place she visits. But in 2016, multiple cancer diagnoses threatened to change everything.
After multiple rounds of chemotherapy, Ammy lost feeling in her fingers, and cooking became dangerous. “Everything tasted like paper,” she said. “The first thing I could taste again? Open Hand Atlanta. I’ll never forget.”
Living with multiple cancers, Ammy depends on Open Hand’s meals to stay nourished and strong.
“Those meals are heaven-sent. I’m a foodie. I love food. I love the essence of food. The culture of food. Sometimes in South America we eat for four hours and savor the food. This food is something you can sit and really enjoy. And the quality is so high. It really helps me feel better and deal with my illnesses.”
Because nourishment isn’t just about survival. It’s about comfort, culture, and feeling like yourself again.
