Myrianna is the proud mother of a healthy, happy little girl, and she credits FIMC agency, Food For Health in Milwaukee, WI, as a critical part of that journey. During her pregnancy, Myrianna received 10 medically tailored meals each week, weekly one-on-one health coaching, and access to cooking and nutrition classes. With this support, she was able to better monitor and manage health conditions that had complicated earlier pregnancies.
“I have a happy, healthy little girl. Food For Health had everything to do with it.” – Myrianna
But the impact didn’t stop there. Myrianna is now bringing what she learned home, creating healthier meals, building better habits, and passing those lessons on to her children. Because when a mother thrives, a family thrives. And when families thrive, communities grow stronger.
Since 2022, participants in Food for Health programming for older adults and maternal and infant health have collectively lost thousands of pounds, improved management of diabetes and hypertension, and experienced healthier pregnancies and births. A reported 90% of older adults participating in the programming improved or stabilized their type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and/or weight. A reported 94% of babies born to mothers in their Maternal and Infant Health program were born healthy.
